In this assignment I'd like you to create a repeating graphic pattern, and try to make it look and feel like a certain design period or culture. The goal is to get you to experience how shapes, color, rhythm and scale all work together to form pattern.

Using your design elements from Brief 3.1, create an original repeating pattern that is your interpretation of a design period or culture that uses pattern. Think about what the shapes you use should be, the color palette and how the shapes are arranged. Consider your color palette and figure/ground relationships, try to work in an abstract rather than pictorial way (although there can be some overlap...).

Make an 8.5 x 11” or A4 (vertical) sheet of page entirely covered with your pattern.

In addition, to help your peers, please include 1-2 sentences on the design period/culture you are trying to interpret in your pattern. Your pattern should speak for itself, but this statement is a little hint to determine just how effective your visual communication is.
